@makkool you replied to the wrong person. i never said anything abt liberia being a colony smart one. and yes, i am educated well enough to know that the US called liberia a fee country but governed it via Tolbert who was a close friend of my father who was attorney general at the time. when Tolbert had enough of the US, deposed him via the CIA. SO PLEASE. BUCKLE UP OR TELL ME SOMETHING I DONT KNOW.

Some very rare footage there. I must say that although I'm familiar with African history, my consciousness of not being either African or Liberian prevents me from taking sides on Tubman's role in the Nation's history. I will say that there are at least two sides to every story.

HRH QUEEN ELIZABETH II. A truly gracefull, elegant and beautifull queen on a visit to her commonwealth realm of Liberia. These were the days of order, harmony and respect.

Tubman hat die Korruption eingeführt! Geld von der BRD um die Kakata-Road auszubauen hat er ins eigene Nest gelegt!! Ich habe mehrere Jahre in Bong gelebt und gearbeitet.

As a child I lived in Liberia for 18 months while my father who worked for the World Bank advised the government during Pres. Tubmans administration . I was 3 and 4 years old and remember it in my earliest childhood memories as a kind and happy place. My ambition at the time was to climb the coconut trees on President Tubmans grounds and get to the huge clusters of coconuts hanging there! Thanks for this video. It just brought a tear to my eye to see his house and him again.
Liberia can never have a national identity as long tribalism is rampant. The American settler community ought never have brought the aboriginal peoples into Liberian society without having them first fully assimilated into Western culture - the infamous 'hut tax' was a disastrous idea. Having NCOs, and other soldiers in the Army w/dual loyalties is not cohesive to say the least. Clausewitz claimed national identity is central to national survival.
