Un-edited test video using my restored 1956 10" DeWalt GW-I using a Forrest "Mr Sawdust" blade, now the WW-1 Triple Chip Grind/TCG blade. My hands are off the full 1 by 6 Cherry and I'm pulling the motor through the cut holding only the very top of the anti-kickback rod with my left hand fingertips. Blade climb and kickback are not existent.

Warning! - DO NOT try this at home! This video is intended to demonstrate the accuracy of a vintage DeWalt and the precision of the Forrest Woodworker 1 tcg radial arm saw blade. Check out my website...http://www.mrsawdust.com/

  • People say radial arm saws aren't accurate but it does not appear so after viewing this video. I have an Original Saw 52 inch , 7 1/2 HP saw and am getting ready to start setting it up. Thanks for putting this up , it's given me a preview of what I am in for.

  • That's a beast! I know the folks at OSC and you have a very well made machine on your hands. Spend the time to get the saw aligned and with a top quality bade installed, you'll have a great experience. Work safe.

  • @sonofsawdust I am finding that the blades are very specific to that type of saw. I also have to get a mist coolant system for cutting non Ferris metal and other accessories. There are allot of people around here who really want to see it run. You know the blade people talk to you like your buying a case of dynamite. Original saw does not. Thanks.

  • @castillianwagon500 Call Forrest. I used to cut a lot of aluminum on my DeWalts and used bee's wax sticks on my blades. I wouldn't use a mist cooling system of any kind on a RAS, the motors aren't made for that. Again and I stress, Call Forrest and they'll hook you up. with the proper blade.

  • I can do this on my DeWalt GP as well. Doing this however is just asking for a kick back though. I hope that no one that watches this actually attempts to do this.

The old DeWalt saws are hard to beat, the ones before the 1949 are best, back when DeWalt was owned by DeWalt. Then AMF bought them and quality went down some. Black and Decker bought DeWalt in 1960 and quality went down yet again. The patent was sold off in 1989 and Black and Decker changed DeWalt to what it is now.

  • @redrobster17 That's why I wrote in the video description.."Do Not Do This at Home!

  • This saw is obviously well tuned and maintained, and tribute to the owner and operator!!

However it isnt hard to get these same results on other and smimilar saws old and new alike.

As always there are lots of adjustments to make on a ras such as this one and others like it.

A true well maintained saw. Yes it is.

    Thanks

    Five stars

  • very nice....looks like the exact clone of my ras...inherited mine from my grandfather who boughtit back in 1952 and its still runnin strong

  • @neil0502 Good luck with your new DeWalt and have fun with the book! Don't forget to join the DeWalt radial arm saw forum on the Mr. Sawdust website.

  • I just made the deal to buy one -- very good shape -- for $100 -- a 1956.

I also bought the "Mr. Sawdust" book.

If you know much about these, and ... can be a source of info for me ... I'd be grateful for a shout-out !

Nice saw ! Hope mine's as nice !!

  • Good saw and great setup.......congrats.
