Reagan voted for FDR 3 times. Reagan cut taxes for the rich, massively increased defence spending and borrowed more money than all presidents before him. go study "the two santa claus theory" to understand what went wrong with america. the richest 400 americans have more wealth than the poorest 150 million american. this is the result of 40 years of voodoo supply side economics. @USAFSmiley87 reagan was a devotee of the british system of free trade. the reagan/thatcher axis of evil ruined both the US and Britain. 40 years on Britain has the worst social standards in europe and the US had an $800 billion trade deficit(the sherman act was ignored- the US had tarifs to restrict cheap imports from 1794 to 1982), $14 trillion government debt(jude waniski - the two santa claus theory) and 46 million people on food stamps. all thanks to reagan and thatcher the milk snatcher!

@iglwy Oh yeah I was thinking you mentioned that as one of those brainwashed who think FDR was the problem back then. Even WHEN he was a starting politician he said things that made sense. But since presidency he changed a lot. To say he turned his back on USA is to me undermining what REALLY goes on behind the walls of the white house. look at Obama. Says one thing, and when in office, is he perhaps FORCED to do another thing? who knows.

Reagan came from a poor background and during the depression both his older brother and father were jobless and destitute. they voted for fdr. harry hopkins and the wpa put 8.5 million people back to work. without fdr people like reagan would have starved. when reagan made it big time as an actor he turned his back on ordinary people. bring back glass steagel, introduce a tobin tax & capital limits on the futures markets.
