Old Merlin reminds me of the guy from "Fort Boyard", an old French game show. Anyway - Arthur is pretty thick because the "you have the face of a toad" would have given Merlin away in NO TIME!!! And YES, they are so at each other all the time because they actually like each other a lot... girls do that too you know, when they like a guy they will tell him to piss off because he is ugly and stupid. This is what the writers are playing on.
