looks like fun...soon hoping for a light sport lic. The J3 would be my choice.

That brings back memories. I learned to fly in a 1946, 65 hp Piper J3, N3590K and first soloed in September, 1956.
You have not "flown" unless you have flown a tail dragger, rag wing. Nothing else even comes close to this experience.

You are absolutely correct. It is the wing strut.
