@TheQueenie726 PD starts at 1922 (and should move up each year if Congress doesn't change the rules again.) More good info at pdinfo dott com about the subject

sigh...all you young people with your talk of drugs missed the signifigance of that bottle of Coca-Cola, which at the time the song was written WAS the real thing -- coca, that is...
PS, public domain for music is pre-1920, last I knew...but, I'm old, and almost remember these things

@Aggedor1959 Maybe you should get a time machine,and go back there and tell them to stop! lol Or just change the history books to accommodate your views.
-
Thank god they filmed this - some of the only film of a young Louis.
-
@edgarallanpony Louis was not a heroin user (smack). He was however known to enjoy some guage (pot). I don't like your inference that he would do a "racist gig" in exchange for the right amount of any drug. He wasn't that kind of guy, he was a class act, always.

@noeljdun12 You're right but as a minority it bothers me to see this from this perspective in time and modern social development, i.e. respect for self & others regardless of skin color.
-
@Aggedor1959 Why unfortunate?
Do not think he was forced to do this. Roll with the times.
Grown men do grown things.
-
Was this the first filmed appearance of Satchmo?
-
don't ya just hate the negative way they depict White people as dogs , clowns and hookers.
-
@Aggedor1959 It's not too bad, if you only listen to the music it's pretty great! x)
