No - have never used a probe...a long time ago, I used to pick up an edge by positioning a lamp behind my work and then use a dowel pin. As soon as the light "disappeared" you were on the edge. Worked very well.

My boss taught me to use a piece of paper and then compensate half the tool and the thickness of the paper. But honestly I've gotten closer to dimensions just by eye at least when I'm zeroing my z this seems like it would be quick tho. Have u ever used a 3d dial probe to find ur edges?
