Actually you can. After you find a beat you like, hold down the loop rec/play button and turn the dial til you see what looks like FIE. This fixes the beat (and other loops you want to keep) so you can record stuff over it and only delete the most recent track. You can cancel the loops turning the dial to CLR.

@screaminkeys i just bought a used one an hour ago, when i go into 16bar mode, if I go back while its playing and cut it to 8 then 4 then 2,1,1/2,etc.. it records it and it messes up the beat and from what this video looks like it supposed to go right back to how it was if you just toggle it, the red light isnt on for record yet it does change the loop after I go back,, is the one i just bought defective?

Thank you so much for this video. It seems all other instructional videos dont explain in enough detail. This answers so many questions and showed me things I didnt even know the kaossilator could do. Kudos.

@hectophonic yep, but it doesn't work on the dly mode that uses the backup memory to extend the bars :(
