President of Philippine Senate Here Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- Franklin M. Drillon, president of the Senate of Philippines, arrived here today to visit the DPRK at the invitation of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly. He was accompanied by Senators Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Richard J. Gordon and Ambeth R. Ocampo who is chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and others. The president of the Philippine Senate was met at the airport by Kang Nung Su, vice-chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, and others.

President of Philippine Senate Pays Courtesy Call on Chairman of DPRK SPA Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- Franklin M. Drillon, president of the Senate of Philippines, paid a courtesy call on Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. Present there were Senators Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Richard J. Gordon and Ambeth R. Ocampo who is chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and others. Also on hand were Kang Nung Su, vice-chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Deputies to the SPA Mun Jae Chol and Kim In Nam and others. A conversation took place on the occasion.

President of Senate of Philippines Feted Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Supreme People's Assembly hosted a reception at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Saturday in honor of Franklin M. Drillon, president of the Senate of the Philippines, on a visit to the DPRK. Present on invitation were Senators Aquilino Q. Pimentel and Richard J. Gordon, Chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Ambeth R. Ocampo and others. Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the DPRK SPA, in a speech at the reception said that during his visit the president of the Senate of the Philippines would see the efforts of the Korean people to build a great prosperous powerful nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il. The DPRK, he stressed, will in the future, too, develop the relations with the Philippines in different fields in the idea of independence, peace and friendship and strive together with all the progressive countries in Asia and the rest of the world to build an independent, peaceful and prosperous new world. The president of the Senate of the Philippines in a speech said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties with the DPRK the Philippines has had close exchanges between the two parliaments. The friendly relations between the two parliaments will promote the development of bilateral relations, he said, adding that the conclusion of an agreement on cultural cooperation between the Philippines and the DPRK will be of weighty significance. He expressed thanks to Kim Jong Il for the great achievements made by the Korean people in political, economic and other fields.

Kim Yong Nam Meets President of Senate of Philippines Pyongyang, April 24 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with President of the Senate of the Philippines Franklin M. Drillon at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. On hand were Kang Nung Su, vice-chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, officials concerned and Senators Aquilino Q. Pimentel and Richard J. Gordon, Chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Ambeth R. Ocampo and others. On the occasion the president of the Senate of the Philippines underlined the need to boost the bilateral relations through the exchanges between the two parliaments and expressed the determination to work hard to develop the friendly relations between the two countries.

Gift to Kim Jong Il Pyongyang, April 24 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by Franklin M. Drillon, president of the Senate of the Philippines, on a visit to the DPRK. The president handed over the gift to Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on Monday.

  • The Philippines has established a diplomatic relationship with DPRK. Besides, who would dare reject Kim Jong-il's invitation to Philippine officials to visit his country.

    We are not coward, every nations' disposition changes as time goes by.

    Look at US and Great Britain, they were former foes two centuries ago but now they are best friends!

    Therefore, there's nothing wrong if we have establish diplomatic ties with DPRK. And it only shows that we are not puppies of Evil Americans Imperialists! We have the freedom and prerogative to have our own foreign policy!

US government is a bunch of proud Polar bears plus a black BEAR... unity must be established .. i care not about wha form of government both country has... russia taught north koreans the ideology of communism... US taught us filipinos the ideology of democracy... but ASIANS must teach each other a sense of UNITY .
