Tables are at the heart of any Access database because they contain the actual data, so it's important to know how to open and edit tables. If you've used a program like Excel, you'll find tables to be relatively familiar already. However, there are few important differences. For example, a row is called a record, and a column is called a field. Also, each record has a unique ID number, which cannot be changed. Later, we'll talk about how other objects such as queries and reports can use these ID numbers to connect the information in different tables.

  • Are the files/templates used in this video available for download somewhere? Having them on my local machine would be nice so I could follow along...

  • @keeblerte6 The example used in this video tutorial can be downloaded on our website. If you look under Access 2010>Lesson 5: Working with Tables> Page 7: Challenge!, you'll see the hyperlink for the example you can download and replicate the results. ^Jess
