Everyone is protected by the first amendment because it is a right that was granted to all people of the U.S. (and anyone who is in the country) granted to us by the founding fathers. And no, you aren't allowed to threaten people; that's one of the few restrictions on your first amendment rights, but before any action is done, you have your 5th, 6th, and 7th amendment rights to due process of law and to a speedy and public trial by jury of your peers.
