Bishop Stampe SV-4C
2009 Greenwood Lake Airshow
Greenwood Lake Airport
West Milford, New Jersey
Saturday September 26, 2009
IN THIS VIDEO, this Stampe makes several passes over the Greenwood Lake Airport as part of the airshow display. There was no narration at this point, since a live band was playing back by the FBO. Quite an interesting aircraft I must say...
If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .
It's a 200 hp Ranger 6-cyl, inverted inline engine. Has a 40 lb block of lead on the tailpost to balance it. Cowling and nosebowl is taken from a PT-19 and modified.

Looking at it - one exhaust stack and the rather "fat" cowlings - its almost definately a lycoming.
Gypsy have the intake on the other side, renaults have right hand instake, 4 right hand exhaust teeth. And the LOM engined Stampes have exhaust stacks on the left. The tigra engine I can't speak for.

The pilot is Richard Smith of Green Township (Andover), otherwise known as my dad. The Stampe lives at Trinca Airport, where I logged several hours with a pilot's pilot, the late Pete Billow. Too bad I was too tightfisted to finish my instruction - it was $28 for a half-hour lesson in a Piper Cub. Including fuel!

well i'm fairly sure it's not a gypsy, the intake's on the wrong side. What engine do you think it's fitted with?

Where are you from?! This one is not equipped with a renault engine....

I'm really lucky - there are 5 at my local airfield, although they all have Gypsy major engines, rather than Renaults like this one has.

Don't see that at air shows everyday
