dude, there was some retard that brought in a 1985 Maserati for the cash for clunkers program, only had 18,480 miles on it. All leather and wood interior this thing was nice. Looked brand new, what a waste... definitely not cash 4 clunkers material.

Most of the cars in that lot are nothing special, gas guzzlers and not worth keeping. Your Cadillac isnt sitting in that lot. I sold my 96 blazer and bought a Yaris last year and saved $3000 in fuel. Payments on the yaris for 1 year are just over $3000. So basically i drove a new car last year for free. Obviously fuel savings depends on what kind of mileage you put on the vehicle but if you are doing 12k a year or 50k your fuel costs are cut in half. My 69 Mark III is still in the garage :).

@lifeinhd The next time you are out and about, count how many foreign cars there are on the roads that are older than 20 years. Then count how many American cars of 20, 30, 40 and even 50 year's old. It is a myth that foreign cars are better. Japanese cars are LOADED with radiation from the failed nuclear plants there. German cars are over priced pieces of crap. They are in the repair shop more often than not with EXPENSIVE repairs. You save NOTHING by buying foreign. It's all a big LIE!

The only people this would benefit is those who were going to buy new cars anyway, and had something in their back yard that wasnt running and to make out, took it to a dealership and got the 4200.00 opposed to 300 at a scrap yard. If a person had a running car and had been driving it , unless it was smoking and falling apart, taking it to a dealer and getting car payments is stupid. And if a person could afford a brand new car, chances are , they dont have a rust bucket in their back yard .

@cadrolls What that says to me is American car companies produce loads of future clunkers, whereas foreign companies do not.
But I agree. The program was not well thought-out, to say the least.

this is one of the last of the real cadillacs. the corvette motor and rear wheel drive kept it real. 4.6 northstar engine is junk because all they do is overheat.
