Owl and Rabbit, Fly Nest Hoo Mated Pair Attack Rare View

Views of Great Horned Owl showing at least 3 rare views of wild owls. One is of an owl nest with two owlets. Owletts are active and shown eating prey. The owls shown are wild and under natural conditions. The mother owl's "horns," or ear tufts, are visible, but the owletts do not have them yet.

The other is an even rarer photograph of one of the pair of owls that built the nest and probably the father with a captured rabbit. This is definitely one of the mated pair of owls with the nest, but it is unknown if it was the same rabbit shown earlier after an attack. In another rare view, the video also shows the owls vocalizing. A pair is shown calling to each other. Later several owls can be heard at once.

Shows flying owl making nighttime swoop. They are nighttime predators.

Also shows owl attack on rabbit. Rabbit is injured. I watched two birds (think they were owls) fly away from a rabbit they had attacked. However it takes so long to turn on the camera that I was unable to film, because the birds had left by the time my camera finally came on.

So I didn't have time to film them leaving. The rabbit was injured and I don't know whether it survived. Later that day I found what I think is one of the same birds. It was still surrounded by crows, as it was when it left. I filmed the bird. It looked like an owl Owls are harassed by crows as this one was. They eat young crows.

**The Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is a large native of the Americas. It can be up to 27 inches long, have a wingspan of over 60 inches, and weigh over 3 pounds. Owls have amazing binocular vision under low light conditions. Their hearing is acute and they have good depth perception. They can pin point the horizontal and vertical direction of a sound. They hunt by night and sometimes emit a horrible-sounding noise when they make a kill.
