The Greatest British Entertainer Ever! Live in Cabaret It is time for a Live Anthony Newley DVD. This would be a great concert for DVD as it highlights the many talents of Mr Newley. He left us far too soon but his body of work remains and it is time to recognise the man voted Las Vegas Entertainer of the year 3 times! This wonderful rare song about lost love says so much about of Newley as a song writer and performer.

  • I was lucky enough to see this wonderful performer in Australia. I had the thrill of talking to him for half an hour or so.We talked about this song and its background. He told me the reason he did not include in his act but that will remain a secret. if you have the closing "patriot" song please post it. Anthony Newly lost a left kidney to cancer and so did I last year. He was one of the talents that makes life worth living. Thank you Mr Anthony Newley.

  • It's almost a privilige to listen and watch this performance. I could weep at the power the emotions expressed ... never heard or seen this before. Thanks.

  • I can't stop listening to this song! It has such reality! lyrics to first 2 verses These words, taste life dying in my mouth but I promised you a love song and I have to wind my memory ‘til it plays we left so much unsaid spreading love between the sandwich of our days Are you, still then somewhere long ago. with a glow as fresh as morning and your eyes as wise as childrens always are starting life with a kiss and this old traveling salesman that I call my heart
  • (Chorus)

It was madness, little dancer. I can see you down the days, your tiny hands pretending that they knew the way.

And every time you touched me, there was thunder in the music, and reason was a stranger in the wonder and the danger of your dance.

    (verse 2)

Ah, you were spring... Winter came too soon,

and her tune became your love song and although your girl needs time, your love song plays. I feel you in my arms, dancing through the music of our yesterdays.

    (chorus repeats)

  • This song will always be special to me. Tony was the most special individual, accomplished in everything he did. A beautiful person inside and out. Bravo Tony for all the magic, you will always be loved! xx

  • I really love this song and of course Mr Newley... Does anyone in the wall can write its lyrics, 'cause i'm french and i don't understand all the words. Thanks a lot !!!

  • Anthony Newley was amazing live and gladly these wondrous clips keep his music alive and the memory of his awesome performances around to be enjoyed over and over...you are missed Mr. Newley!

  • I really never knew about Anthony Newley, as well as the song "Who Can I Turn To and What Kind of Fool AM I" which had been made famous by other artists had been written by Newley. Then I saw the musical (movie) of Dr. Doolittle with Rex Harrison and he was in it. It was there that I really became acquainted with the talent of Anthony Newley. What a great composer, lyrists, produce and actor he was. He also wrote Goldfinger. He died April 14, 1999. What a shame we lost such a unique talent!

  • They don't make them like Newley anymore, and more's the pity. And this is coming from a true hard rocker. I wish more rockers had the singing and writing talent Anthony had!

  • Anthony Newley was such a remarkable performer.

  • "Wearing your heart on your sleeve" is correct. Newley was, in some ways, the greatest male torch singer of all time. His movements remind me very much of Garland. My biggest thrill was, as a 17-year-old, sitting in the third row and seeing "The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Crowd" the week it opening in New York City.
