So apparently the whole change your profile pic to a cartoon character was created by a group of pedophiles (child molesters). If children see pics of cartoon characters they are more inclined to add them as a friend. This is a method pedophiles are using to gain access to children. i dont know how true this is but it was on the news

it is good to have help after the harm is done, and the organizations are probably trying to raise awareness as well though, so donating is probably never a BAD thing...

While I would agree that we need to do more than simply raising awareness of injustices, child abuse is one injustice where awareness is probably the greatest thing we can do. Sure, donating money helps, but it doesn't actually do a whole lot because of the nature of child abuse. Awareness, on the other hand, is much more likely to reduce the abuse someone gives out, and encourages others to do something about any abuse they witness. And that something would be reporting it, not donating.
