Hey, Fantastic footage :] 5*'s I'm looking to go up to Shap in June for 5043 and would rather like to visit the shot you did at Shap Fell, if you could point me out with any directions at all then they would be highly appreciated. Many Thanks, Simon
In 1926 a company named Sir W.G.Armstrong-Whitworth of Newcastle-On-Tyne built 30 broad gauge (5ft3in) locomotives for South Australian Railways.Ten were heavy Pacifics (4-6-2) of around 45000lbs tractive effort. They were classified as 600 class and the last one built (609) was named Duke of Gloucestor.Although larger and heavier than 71000 they were not too disimilar.609 could handle a 750tonne passenger express at a permissable 70mph on good tracks.
Seen the Duke twice now, and just passing the time till tomorrow afternoon when she visits us in Plymouth. Ok its one in the morning but we must find some steamy time.
