i hate o'reilly as much as the next educated person but i dont think anything was completely wrong witht he message hes trying to give. as someone below said, having a strong male role model is very important in the development of children. and whilst it is possible to have a stable single parent household. i dont think it atall to be something to promote. its not a sexist view, infact id rather have a woman as a single parent than a man, its just the way things are.

Long story short, there is nothing wrong with a single parent raising children, but more than likely they will lack certain skills if they dont have a male/female role model. Not life threatoning, but depending on the skills it might make life a bit more difficult for them lol

I grew up most through most of my childhood without my dad because of the iraq war and he was deployed so much l. My mom raised me and I turned out alright I think lol. I start college soon and doing college ROTC. There are a few things that i lack because of the influence of a male role model though. I second guess too much and sometimes i have a lack of confidence. My father is retiring from the army soon and weve been hanging out alot lately, so hes not so much of a stranger anymore XD.

did anyone actually hear what she said? she said that is what happens, and that it is possible to raise a child as a single woman. but that she wouldn't do that way. that is what all she said. she didnt condone it. and it was in context to the movie she was promoting not her promoting her own ideals. so i dump all over O' reilly. and this is so old but still this is just a man who thinks he is the moral majority leader, when he is a man like anyone else.

Women's eggs do have an expiration date, when they are getting close it leads to desperation, so there isn't a whole lot of time to try and find that one man that is responsible, ambitious, loving and caring, and wants to settle down. Mainly because it's very hard to find one. Not to mention it will be quite slutty to just sleep with every guy you meet in hopes of getting pregnant. Waiting too long can result in poor mental and/or physical health for the baby.

i.e higher risk for Down Syndrome.

What they failed to mention is that having both parents doesn't make it a perfect family. There are many variables to raising a child. I would think that the ideal family should support one another, be there for one another, LOVE each other, care for each other, respect one another, and more. Now having both parents that do what I stated would be great. But having 2 parents or 1 of 2 that don't then the child will have problems with development nonetheless.
