@brawlboy3285 You do need 20 sided die, these are the staples for it, at least D&D oriented ones.

@ZumiaZugrametu you dont even need the books so long as you know the basic concept of rpg systems, me and my buddies play freeform game with our own rules all the time. that said it is still obviously best to have the handbooks

Is it possible to play D&D with only a notebook, a pen, and just a few die? (like 3, 6 sided die.)

@blackwolf9710 it is, but keep in mind 4e has been out two years. This is AD&D from the 1980s/1990s. Not a knock, just pointing out the game is completely different now.
