What must I do (believe) to be saved?
Jesus Christ said, "He who believes in Me has everlasting life" (John 6:47). He also said, "He who lives and believes in Me will never die." Eternal life is eternal.
Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the whole world (John 1:29). He has removed the sin barrier, which separated us from God. However, we still lack spiritual life, eternal life. To get that life, we must simply believe in Jesus for it. There are no strings attached.

Do Jews keep personal copies of the Torah at home, or is it something to be kept only at the synagogue?
(and is "synagogue" the proper word or is it an anglicised word ... like how "mosque" is an anglicised version of "masjid" for Muslims)

@MsTommyknocker I agree. There are some great translations. I like the Jewish Publication Society translation.

While it is certainly possible to keep a Torah at home, they are quite expensive and I would guess that the vast majority of Jews do not. However, many Jews have a "Chumash" which is the Torah in book form at home.
Synagogue is certainly an appropriate word. Other Jewish houses of worship are called temple, congregation, shul or beit kenesset.

Nope, we're Conservative

That's a good question. It really depends on the Torah scroll. Some are quite large and heavy, while others are smaller and easier to lift. You'd have to stop by a synagogue and take a look at some of the different scrolls to get a better idea.
