  • I just saw his clinic at the Chicago Drum Show. I wish he would have spent a little more time on how get a good sound in the studio. He did a little talking, but it was just plugs for his new CD. Otherwise, he just jammed along to some recordings of songs he played on. He is clearly a good groove player, but his solos were a little boring. Overall, I did get a few things out of it, but I was not as impressed as I thought I would be.

  • As a drummer, solid as a rock. As a person, kind of an asshole. Met him a few years back while working room service at a hotel he was staying in during the David Foster group tour. Seemed to care less about me or the fact that I was a fan of his and instead insisted on me selling him booze in spite of the fact that it was past 2:00 a.m and was not legally allowed to do so. Not gonna lie, my respect for him went way down hill after this chance encounter. Expected him to be way cooler. WRONG!

  • This guy was in my dad's high school. Creston HS '73. My dad loves 'Higher Love' and how ironic that he went to school with the very man who played on it.

  • This man has played on so many of my favorite songs, especially the ones when he was with Rufus. He's one talented, smooth cat. (Plus, he still looks great.)

  • Listen to Steve Winwood's "Give me a higher love" and how "JR" holds the groove in that song....awesome!!!

  • JR is one of the best.

  • WHOOPIE DOOPIE.

  • this celebrity drummer knows how to tune drums, play with feeling, and compose interesting drum parts... thats more than i can say for the rest of them!!! thats why the rest aren't in bands that actually sell albums well, they just solo, solo, solo!!!

  • snare shell thounds very thin, dont really like that kit, even though i like some yamahas.

  • @pdub414 nevermind hes hired by MJ, Hes the most recorded drummer to date.
