Before the Washington Nationals game on September 23, 2011, Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and agency staff participated in a Parade of Nations that featured flags from current Peace Corps-served countries around the world.

Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams threw out the first pitch and Peace Corps Chief of Staff Stacy Rhodes commenced the game with the traditional call of Play Ball! The annual event at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., celebrates the contributions of Peace Corps around the world and this year marked the 50th anniversary of Congress approval of the legislation that formally authorized Peace Corps in 1961.
