Not to hurt anyone, but... how did this happen? Looking at the specs and stuff... a 850R has to win right?

not when you look at the weight figures also. G40 weighs in at 850kg, give or take. Volvo is nearer 1400kg. Gives them a similar 0-60 as standard cars.

I had a second G40 after this, would have torn the Volvo apart even more :-)

OOOh, controversy,

The g40 has the power to weight of a cosworth as standard, they're 115 bhp as standard, I spent £1000 at pitstop developments and that took it to around 150 bhp, which in a car weighing 700kg is plenty of power to whip the volvo. I reckon the polo driver was taking it steady. the only downfall of tuning a g40 is that the standard driveshafts are too feeble and tend to twist in half from the torque. MILES OF G-SMILES.

I had a G40 for a couple of years, and they are a seriously underrated car, the torque steering under acceleration was mad; it was probably the fastest accelerating car I have owned. I have a Mk V Golf GTi now and the G40 somehow seemed faster I know it wasn't, but there was just something about the way it took off. The Polo back then didn't have that many creature comforts, it was basically a granny shopper with s super charger, it didn't look much either so it surprised a few ppl off the line.
