For over 50 years the Bob Hope Classic has had many memorable moments including top celebrities, David Duval's final round 59, a 90-hole scoring record for Joe Durant and several U.S. Presidents.
This 59 stands far above most, maybe all, the others that have been shot. Some of the 59's were under lift/clean/place rules, which has to take something away from the accomplishment. Others were due primarily to hot putting days; which, let's face it, have a large element of luck. Duval's 59 was a result of one of the greatest tee-to-green days ever. Iron shot after iron shot finished close to the hole. He was the best golfer in the world (including Tiger), but for too brief a time.
