I had to look this song up. A buddy @ work was playing the Kershaw version and I said "The original version is better." He stared at me confused "This is the original." To which I informed him the original version came out about 40 years ago. He shrugged and said: "How could I know? I wasn't even born yet."

This song is very clever. The lyrics are priceless. But, when is the last time you heard the lead after the first verse? And, when is the last time what is essentially the chorus, was done in the middle, actually toward the end, of a verse? Very clever, and funny, tune no matter how you look at it. Reminds me of "Hope That I Don't Fall in Love With You", in those respects.
