The following advertisement is a part of the campaign used to promote the Beijing + 15 conference both in the Gambia and, eventually, throughout Africa. The advertisement uses the tying of the Lappa (wrapper) as a symbol of the growing empowerment of women throughout Africa. African women often re-tie or adjust their lappa when they're "getting down to business." It is with this mentality that Ministers of Women's Bureaus throughout Africa met the week of November 16th - 20th, 2009 in the Gambia.
