  • I agree with so much of this.

They made Rorschach a murderer. Horrible change. Original was so much better.

They could have broken up the movie into chapters, with central focus one character at a time. In the middle it almost seemed liked they were doing this. They went over Doc, then Rorschach. But it was really muddled. They missed Nite Owl and Silk completely.

  • Rorschach WAS a murderer, remember the part where he burned the guy alive?

  • hey, i agree with your argument. The reason why the movie's different from the book is because Hollywood wants to capture other than the important things (which were in the book). When it comes to Hollywood, you ARE going to see differentiations. Look what they did to Twilight. But every filmmaker has his/her own vision of literature medium, which can cause reactions of viewers everywhere. I love the movie, but my heart still has room with the book. Alan Moore deserves better, though.

  • Yah...I agree with you, patmathis. Although I was still entertained by the movie, for my own reasons.

I expected worse results from a movie attempting to retell this story. I think it is safe to assume that most other Hollywood directors would have done a far worse job.

Also, I am aware of the complications of movie-making. Often a director is forced to accept trade-offs, because a scene he envisioned isn't realizable. The potential reasons for that are plentiful, and beyond a director's power.

  • I see some of your points. But one thing that is important to keep in mind, is that the your subjective visual understanding from the book is your own. The good thing about books is that the reader can create a own visual scenarios. But they will always be subjective. So to view a movie, and review it, forgetting such important understanding, is something to think about. I understand and even agree with much, but you can not change human nature, nor the demands of the average cinema audience.

  • Wow you walked out? I still don't understand why people think that the new ending was better...

  • Dude you sound like a total fucking fanboy...and I agree with everything you said!

  • Sadly, I disagree with almost every point you brought up...

  • He gave him a choice. They more morally ambiguous. That seemed to be the point of the scene in the comic. Instead, that stabbing is just out right murder and it was way over the top. That's the point I was trying to make.

  • They could have focused the story as a superhero mystery. At least then the uninitiated audience would have been able to follow along. But they messed up the soundtrack, it was so out of place. Could have used it to their advantage.

They messed up so many things, by the end of the movie after I saw that they even changed the ending, I couldn't take it anymore and walked out. I didn't even see what happened after Doc came to New York.

I appreciate their attempt but I'll stick to the comic.
