@787bb As an American here who stays longer than 90 days, I need a visa and a valid reason to stay that long (such as a work permit for work that Czechs aren't able to perform as well as I can.)
If I got "permanent" residence, I'd only have to do the FP run every 5 years, I think.
Since this film, they've added Americans to their list of "third" countries which means no visa requirement but residence permits are go.
I wish they could be so wise and accommodating to countries east of here.
