In china by 850 the tang dynasty was going down. With that collapse, many CHINESE generals would escape. some to korea MOST to japan. And by going to Japan they also brought the knowledge and philosophies of war with them. and i'm not even going to mention the chinese monks who came over either who taught what they knew about medicine and their own fighting techniques to Japanese soldiers. a blend of Chinese and native tactics was called ninjutsu developed as a counter-culture, without rules.lol
