Jade Doheny auditions for "Black Lotus" short film

5-year-old Jade Doheny, a native of China, is auditioning for the promo trailer for "Legend of Black Lotus," an independent film written by Angelo Bell, based on a story by actress Nicole Sessions. The film will be an epic action adventure loosely based on the "Mulan" fairy tale (a cross between "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Gladiator," but set in ancient China.) The role for which Jade is auditioning is Mingzhu, a 5 or 6-year-old Chinese princess. Dramatic talent, as well as strong dance and gymnastics skills, are required for the role.

For her video audition, the film maker requested that Jade perform a scene that transpires between Daiyu, the princess' bi-racial servant, and the Empress of China. In the audition, Jade performs the role of Daiyu and Jade's mother, Cathy Doheny, reads off-camera the role of the Empress. Video has also been submitted of Jade performing professional Chinese dance routines.
