  • It's a little bit flat of C, almost half a semitone.

  • @bluegrassman776 I don't have my banjo out but my guess is Bb. A lot of these older recordings were sped up slightly to make them brighter. Flatt and Scruggs even tuned their instruments up a half step to get the same effect.

  • is this one step down in b or what i can't in tune with this

  • Red Allen - guitar, Bill Emerson- banjo, Wayne Yates - Mandolin, Bill Yates - bass, Chubby Wise - fiddle (this cut) from Melodean MLP 7325 "The Solid Sound of the Kentuckians". Produced, recorded and mastered by Pete (Roberts) Kuykendall, Wynwood Recording Studio.

  • Bill Emerson on flathead

  • Well only once now that I think about it , but was so young I have a lot of trouble even remembering it lol

  • I don't know if bill was on this recording but I can find out , but yes Porter was an amazing man , I only got to meet him a few times and was a kid .

  • I think it is Bill Emerson on an archtop

  • This is some of Red's best stuff - and backed up by Porter Church on banjo I'll bet. Way cool! Aoooouuuiieeeee! Love you Red!

  • Pretty hot !!! Chubby Wise played nice break.
