Jean Luc Cagadoc and his mother Maria Theresa speak to Balitang America through Skype.
The Quebec Human Rights Commission recently ordered a private school to pay the Cagadocs $17,000 in moral and punitive damages, stemming from incidents in 2006 when school officials reprimanded Luc for eating with his fork and spoon, the typical Filipino way of eating, which officials described as un-Canadian and pig-like.

I live in Japan and I follow Japanese table manners with my chopsticks.
In the school he should learn local table manners. The problem is the insulting language used by the school--- not the fact that he was told to eat like Quebeckers.
In Japan, we make noise when we eat noodles. Should I do that in Quebec too?

LOL! That's all he did? !!??? I think these locals in Canada seriously need to get out more! What's really disgusting is the lack of global cultural knowledge on the Canadian's part. The parents ought to find a better school.

Noon nag aaral ako sa Long Beach, Ca in 1985, I felt being Filipino (and other Filipino students) felt, that being Filipino is NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT! They do not care about the Filipino culture. Dapat "mainam" ay respect of the HISPANIC culture. Sinigawan ako ng Hispanic teacher dahil ayaw kung mag spanish sa ESL class!!
