Noo's the Day

(A missive to Westminster)

Lyrics: Billy Henderson © Idlefrets Music01.12.10

Tune: Mo Ghile Mear

A nation aye, a country, naw,
A sovereign state is naw for aw,
The Union's back's against the wa',
So noo's the day, come follow.

Time tae brek Westminster's chains,
Time tae re-enforce yir veins,
England loses, Scotland gains,
A legacy tae leave yir weans;

Three hunner years we've had tae dree,
Awa' divine authority,
What price noo, oor liberty,
Ach rule yirsel' an' let us be.

Ye never liked us, noo's yir chance,
Here's a warnin' in advance,

A 'New Alliance', we'll mak wi' France,
'Cause we're up tae here wi' yir dominance.

  • How I'd love before I die to have a Passport with the Lion Rampant over the saltire cross ,and the words PASSPORT OF SCOTLAND. How I'd love when I apply to not get my application returned because "Scotland is not acceptable as a country of birth",please use use UK or Gt.Britain. Never once in my life have I answered the question "where were you born" with either. The answer was always SCOTLAND !!! Albainn gu Brath

  • @Macangusagain know what you mean. I'm tired of there being nothing between Saudi Arabia and Senegal in drop down internet menus.. it's time to change, its starting!

  • yes i did check it out ,nice but I far better like Noo's The Day, a lovely voice, a jaunty rollicking little ditty, and well done ,Tom

  • Well played and sung Hazel.

  • Lovely song Hazel, great stuff as per usual. Loved the photo of Loch Lomond and the Ben from down near Gartocharn, a particular favourite place in my heart.
