  • @OctaviusDavis There were a lot of parts which were cut out too :(

  • I am a 25 year-old man and I am proud to say I cry every time I hear this letter.

  • I stiil tear up when I hear this!!!

  • So sad that letter writing is vanishing so fast. Something so personal about a pen and paper. The special and unique markings of a person's own style and something timeless about opening and reading it. I guess it must be something from the romaniticism of the Civil War and WWI.

  • I just cried so hard.

  • And so we have come from the noble sentiments expressed in this man's eleventh hour: of love for family, and for his Nation and it's principles, so that these may be bequeathed to future generations; to the proposition, common in the early twenty-first century, that it's every man for himself, and and that all governance which may conduce to collective, salutary purpose is evil. It is any wonder that we are in decline?

  • I can't watch it because he messed up the beginning. It starts "My very dear Sarah" the very is important for the beauty of the opening.

  • @DickAllen1972

Well, have you volunteered to be a guest speaker to a high school class? Maybe you could go back to school and try teaching yourself. It sounds like you have a lot to share.

  • @DickAllen1972 I will guarantee you that perhaps not 1 in 100,000 High School Students could even tell you what war the Battle of Bull Run was fought in. We dont teach American History anymore...with any kind of depth.
