Hey Folks: I saw Ian Dury and the Blockheads in 1976. He opened for THE JAM and PAT TRAVERS at the Old Waldorf. Anyway, he was not much different then than he appears in this vid. A LOT more Manic, maybe, but only half of his body functioned. POLIO. But what a great performer! One of my all-time favorite shows, and I've seen just about everybody. He used his polio-affected arm and leg like PROPS! Strange, unsettling and terrific all at once. Unforgettable, obviously. He looked like Gene Vincent!
ian dury was affected by a very depressing and mentaly affetcing cancer which left him with most of his left side of his body dis-abled. he didnt let this hold him back so he made creative songs with wacky lyrics to ammuse his-self and others i was watching a documentary on it. so before you go posting comments which aren't backed up with evidence then dont say them and yes i am aware he took drugs but thats not why he is in the predicament he is in!
