Do you have a problem with the Dire Straits line "that little faggot he's a millionaire..."? Well, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council does. But this isn't the only change we've seen to cultural works. The 'N' word has been removed from Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." Why are we sanitizing cultural works? Is it sensitivity run amok, or a vital and timely change?

  • The producer got fired for letting that go on the air. LMAO

  • "You can't use the word 'faggot' on the radio anymore." (no matter, even how it's used)

Imagine if TV suffered the same fate.

    "You can't even say...that f-word that generally refers to gay males...there are two "g"s and a "t" at the end...you know what I mean......anymore."

We need to harshly punish violent crimes and even hate speech which promotes violent crimes...but you shouldn't censor words in a free society.

  • I agree with Holypsychopath "faggot" does not mean "gay" anymmore. wasn't there a time when "gay" was offensive?

  • I looked at Crafty60's twitter, and he never called Mr. Paikin a faggot. He referenced a Steve "Pakin".

  • OK, so I googled Paikin. Not only is the guy married, his wife is a bit of an intellectual in her own right and hot enough to think about tomorrow morning in the shower...

If Paikin is a |=?|6607, then he is passin' for straight almost better than I do.

  • Goddamn I love Akaash. Always glad to see him.

  • "If we pretend that there were no evils at any time in history, how can we teach ourselves - let alone children - to combat those evils?

Great point. If we don't understand our human capacity for evil, we CAN'T - I think - defend ourselves from it.
