I feel so bad for people that lived back in the dark ages. So many lives wasted, and oh, the poor few aethiests that had to live quietly or be smiten by cruel people obsessed with control

@Voodoofreak35 The Seneca quote really is great, but I prefer the Epicurus quote at 4:12 to be far more interesting and in a way intuitive.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as falce and by rulers as usefull. Bullseye! and thats 2000 years ago.

Christian art could be considered the first era of pop culture. The bible was all the rage and inspired many artworks. Unfortunately the original material had been plagiarized several times before. And the book isn't really that great. Reminds me of a few mainstream musical genres... lol (silly comment) I really enjoyed this program. It gave me some new ideas to think about!

Thank you for posting.

Ah I see what you're saying. Though I must admit, Christian art isn't really any more impressive than the art and architecture of the Ancient Greeks and Romans.
KICK ASS QUOTE AT 6:40!
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as USEFUL!"

Good documentary. I thought the whole belief explanation was slightly overdone, but there are some excellent views put forth nonetheless. My favorites are those of the Greek philosphers mentioned in this segment of the episode. So short and simple yet vastly insightful and logical.
