This is the first episode of The Beverly Hillbillies which aired on CBS in September, 1962. A "petroleum man" from the OK Oil Company visits the Clampetts in the Ozarks where Jed owns property. Ellie Maye knocks the petroleum man out with a rock and brings him home, asking Jed if she can keep him.

When the petroleum man comes to, he tries to convince Jed and Grannie that they are now rich. Jed and Granny think that he is delusional after being struck in the head.

After some initial resistance, Jed decides to pack up and move to Beverly Hills.

  • @masonisadog Great question. The Hillbillies had a long run and were still doing well but the network wanted to move on to more modern shows!
