2 examples of the Yamaha TX81Z doing what it's known for best...90's sounding house and techno thanks to some Lately Bass ;-) On the DX-100 and others this is more comenly known as "Solid Bass" and sounds a little different...Solid Bass patch from the DX-100 was used on Orbital's Chime to name some...Lately Bass was used on pretty much everything and even Madona used it

  • There is something about the sound of a tx81z that I absolutely love, even above certain analog synths. It's grungy and custom made for laser robot acid pumpkin techno

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Hahah yea innit, the DX-100 is my fave out of all of them, unfortunately they hate me as every DX I had broke...I know the TX seems like a DX-100+more waveforms but really the 100 is so much more, the easy tweak-able interface and the seriously lo-fi 12bit sound make it one of my fave synths. I'd rather have a crappy DX-100 over a new DSI synth ;-)

  • @vinyljunkie07 I love the sound of them, but they seem to sell for really crazy prices these days. If I can find one used fairly cheap, it's mine. (dx100) ...

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Exactly that's the problem, twats like me make them popular by recommending them and telling people the whole of UR used them lol

Mad Mike said he modified his with Oberheim filters even

  • @vinyljunkie07 What?? How? I run my tx81z into my Jomox M-Resonator when I feel like making it really nasty. :)

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Haven't got a clue, it was in a old interview with him, he didn't say much more other than his DX doesn't sound like every one else's and he's moded it with OB filters. I'm going to guess it's a external made filter, it's easy to do and you could make a whole load of em and rack em up in a'la modular fashion. The DX-100 was my first synth I stole from my school years ago.

  • good track

  • Real cool

    Good job

  • If there were a nuclear holocaust tomorrow only 2 things would survive: cockroaches and the Yamaha TX81z. This box is built to last!

    Nice music!

  • @daylife905 dude wtf hook that thing up!!!

  • exceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelent!

  • I got that synth a while ago but havn't got it hooked up yet, sounds cool ;)

  • that looks so much like the akai s3000, which i use for almost everything

  • @vinyljunkie07 Ok to clarify the tech side of things. As to DAC used the TX802 uses a PCM54H 16bit device. The TX81z uses a YM3012 DAC - is a 13bit convertor. The PCM54H is a straight up parallel16bit input where as the YM3012 is a floating point device which uses a 10bit data word (mantissa) with the remaining 3 bits used to set the exponent. This method of conversion provides an overall bandwidth equivalent to 16bits. To understand how this is true, research binary number systems =)

  • Hey great Tune! Gosh now I finally know where those famous 90ies sounds are from :)

But this great house chord tune you play in the end and filter tweak isnt the TX81Z, is it??

  • very nice - but I can't help to ask how the tx81z rates against your Blofeld ???
