If anything can bring tears to my hardy eyes, it's seeing old SOviet pictures :( 1989 was the blackest day in the history of all humanity. The USSR was a PERFECT example of a society. It was not anal. People were friendly. Life was not tense. Sure material comforts were less and u didn't have automatic USB powered potato peelers, but u had such a high quality of life such as free medical care, free top quality education, free homes and best of all PEOPLE HAD TIME FOR PEOPLE! I live here in Romania and my dad worked in a communist plant for almost all his life , it is the U.S. and biritsh economic hitmen who have destroyed this country now , everywhere there are only products from abroad , but not from Romania , I hope that one day the king returns and a new set of laws is adopted , but until that day the people are so stupid because the communists killed the smart ones , that day is going to come very late , then the only response can be a new world war

@sovietkotek My point was it wasn't just Bukharin who was killed but many Party members - who could be killed just as easily as anyone else in the fSU. Are you aware capital punishment was abolished during the revolution? It being brought back I think shows us something. Yes, there was a revolution but what happened in the following years destroyed it. Don't get me wrong it wasn't only events in the fSU that contributed to this process.

@sovietkotek And what was he guilty of exactly?....he was allowed to speak freely, so? If it was just the odd case you might have a valid argument but sadly it was endemic to the society. But it's not just this feature which showed the fSU to be counter-revolutionary rather than revolutionary.

@sovietkotek One example of fear and terror was the fact that anyone including Party members would be killed, tortured or imprisoned at any moment. Another would be simply the lack of food and basic material necessities. I dd not see what work camps do not have to do with terror! Were they holiday camps?
