Street Running in Porthmadog.MOD

The WHR is now fully open and trains run the whole 25 miles. At Porthmadog they cross the town and the Britannia Bridge. This is the 11:00 from Caernarfon arriving at Porthmadog Harbour at 13:35 on 31 March 2011. The locomotive is Garratt #138. Note the Pullman coach, built in the FfR's Boston Lodge works.

Beautiful loco & Pullman.

600 mm gauge is the ideal size for the purpose it satisfies, IMHO.

I look forward to visiting Wales and this fine line someday.

@psycotria Yes, lovely engines, those Garratts, once you get used to the fact that they each have two back ends and no front! The Pullman cars are a tiny bit short of legroom but otherwise superb. How far aay from Wales are you? Maybe you can make it to the big event September 9, 10, 11?

I sometimes have to pinch myself to prove I am not dreaming; are we fortunate or not to have such dreamers who believe that the impossible is possible? Garratts through the street? Incredible! We rode in the non-observation Pullman; Garratt, fab scenery and locally brewed beer brought to your seat. It doesn't get much better than that! We even had sunshine! Thanks for posting.
