Date and Time: Tuesday, March 1 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm

Place: Music/Dance Library, 5th floor of Gidden Hall

Program to include works by Erik Satie, John Cage, Michael Jon Fink, Peter Garland, Gabriel Jackson and Richard D. James.

Aaron Butler is a percussionist based in Athens, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Music in percussion performance from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport. Primarily specializing in new and improvised music, Aaron's approach to performance is informed by extensive research into the composer's style in order to make appropriate decisions in a musical environment that often leaves many choices up to the performer. In addition to his activities as a percussionist, Aaron is pursuing a Masters of Music in music history and literature from Ohio University. Under the guidance of Dr. Richard Wetzel, he plans further research into styles of new music which have been largely ignored by scholars.
