I know the title is strong but those of you that hate Calvinism need to know the influence Calvinism has had on America's founding and realize that America would not be America without Calvinism.

  • WCOFTheology. You are not saved and cannot be saved. God has willed it this way. He predestined you to hell. Period. John 10:26. Tough. I am a real Calvinist. you are an imposter.

  • @Calvinismisbiblical3 You are an IDIOT!

  • This country never was founded on Christianity... so I have no issue hating Calvinism or the state of this country. It's even more proof that his teachings are false since they're what made this country what it is(being able to slay your enemies and revolt against the government, against multiple Scripture commands from Jesus and Paul)... I suggest you go watch a documentary called "The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers"---they denied Jesus' deity, the Holy Spirit and loved Thomas Paine.

  • @droptozro You can believe a lie if you want to.

  • Yes it seems certain American values were held in common with "Calvinism". However it seems Calvin's dictatorial governance over Geneva and the marred history of the MBC puritans and their banishments and burnings are far from American Values. I don't want to disparage Calvin or Calvinists over this, but you run the risk of looking Biased and dishonest if you don't concede the historic link between Theonomy and Calvinism.

  • Dr. D James Kennedy has a fantastic sermon talking about how Calvin and the Reformed-minded people laid the foundation for America. Most of the people over here at one time were Presbyterian, Reformed, Methodist, Moravian, Baptist, and a a few Methodistic Anglicans. America, America, God shed his grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.

I'm not here to answer for or speak behind another's back--his issues are for himself to deal with and repent if he's made comments of that nature.

"we must defend our country and our freedom"

Where does Jesus ever command this? Do you seek to disobey Jesus and kill others to defend dirt?

The government has their authority, correct--but you do not.

I'm not prejudiced--I've read and seen, and judged properly after the facts were given. You've not shown me contrary.

  • @droptozro "but outright seeking to murder and persecute people who disagree with one's theology shows they're not of God"

Tell this to fractalfires. He wants to burn down Calvinist Churches, take away their right of free speech and put them in jail. Do YOU condone such behavior? We must defend our country and our freedom or people like Hitler will run rampant and THAT is NOT God's will for His people. He has given us governments to bear the sword. You obviously are prejudiced against Puritans.

  • @WCOFTheology

"You have no concept of the mind of God"

On the contrary friend, I stand strongly on the Scriptures and Jesus' commands and let God take vengeance as commanded... who's mind are you aligning with? It shows you do not trust God at His Word that He will repay the wicked for persecuting the saints... think about these things, this is not a game--those are serious commands of Christ and if you seek to disobey them for this flesh, you may fall away during persecution.

    Romans 12.

  • @ClarkianApologetics

My point still stands probably--but I don't know every single individual Puritan so I wouldn't state it dogmatically... many of you only back it up because you affirm that you can completely disobey Jesus for your own autonomous reasons(killing, fighting, wars, oaths, armies). It's interesting because I wasn't even speaking of self-defense, but outright seeking to murder and persecute people who disagree with one's theology shows they're not of God.

  • @WCOFTheology ... Luke 14:26 shows you love your family MORE than God because you would disobey Jesus direct commands in Matthew 5 in order to save their lives and you cannot be His disciple. You can rebuke, run, pray, or stand in the way, call authorities--but I want the enemy to know God in heaven, not go to hell because I sent him there in the act.

Make sure you read the conclusion of beatitudes also, Matthew 7:24-29 shows if you don't obey--you're not on Jesus words, but sinking sand.
