Saint Cathrine's monastery, officially the Monastery of the Transfiguration, still rise in the shadow of Mt Sinai. In C.E. 337, the mother of the roman Emperor Constantine, Queen Helena, commissioned a chapel built near the reputed site of the burning bush from which god spoke to Moses.
When desert bandits continued to harass the small shrie Emperor Justinian built a fortified enclosure around the place which was completed in C.E. 565. The site is sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslim.

Nice to see it at sunset - I always used to see it at sunrise. I experienced the most incredible natural display there in about 1999 or 2000, seeing the Leonid meteor shower from near the summit - 100's of bright trails all over the night sky.

True. Greek Orthodox (all Chrisitians) & Muslims share a huge number of prophets (Jesus & Abraham are two well known examples). People easily forget that in this day and age. Obviously they also share a few holy sites as evidenced in the video of the summit of Mount Sinai. Defintely climb it if you get the chance one day if you haven't already.
