  • I saw these guys in Cleveland around 1985 and they did this song with some random guy they pulled out of the audience to play the basic chords involved. Then, one by one the band members left the stage leaving this guy alone w just the drummer. U2 were at the top of their game that night. What seemed like the entire crowd was singing along while the band returned again to finish the song while this guy played with The Edge and finished it out. An awesome, one of a kind moment. Thanks!

  • @misterhyde33

    Tu m'étonnes !!!

  • @anacrobat89 listen, i think personally pop is one of their best albums, i also personally think nloth is also amazing musicallya nd creatively, probably edges 4th best album, and quite possibly adams best!

i think mos is the worst possible way to nd a show, the song is not uplifting enough for me

as for talking about innovation etc etc, i`ve been into u2 since 1981, so spare me the fucking lecture!

  • @callummcphail I get your point but that's not what I mean by progress so much. U2 likes to move on artistically regardless of album sales or album charts. See "Pop" for example which took a beating but is considered innovative and ahead of it's time by most fans and critics today. No line is also not a charts type of album. Anyway, the forward concept continues on their tours and they always like to have new openers and closers. That is all I mean. 40 is a great closer though. I get that.

  • @rianpop I think it's quite the opposite really. Bono did wear his heart on his sleeve during this era but seemed more pompous. U2 took a lot of heat then because of that. Just watch Rattle and Hum and tell me he wasn't way over the top there. The Bono from the Zoo era was more of a satire.

  • @anacrobat89 moment of surrender and having 1 song in uk top 40 of last album is not porgress!

playing street, still havent, pride etc is progress thoug huh?

  • @callummcphail Sure but they did that for the Vertigo tour and it proved a rather tired concept really. U2 is about moving forward. 40 is an amazing song however.
