Elaine Morgan is one of the clearest thinkers of all time. She understands the questions and is able to pose answers un-mired in the mud of the good-old-boys club. Go watch naked-ish people at the beach of a lake or river and you'll get a clue of the human attraction to shore-life. You won't find masses of people flocking to a savanna on holiday, and if you do find some humans there, you'll see them preferring clothing to shield the heat and sun, just as savanna apes would favor body hair.

I just found out about Elaine Morgan recently. I've always felt it strange that scientists would reject obvious facts that point to the water, away from their dogmatic viewpoint.

The aliens who spliced their genes into ours (early hominids) were a "naked" species -- come on people!!! The evidence is there!!!

@Pandomoro Goose bumps are vestigil and serve very little purpose. Of more importance is the fact that Humans that eat fish dont get as many heart attacks or CV diseases and symptoms.
-
Humans have not lost their bodyhair, it's just significantly reduced to vellus hair in most areas. Ever wondered about goose bumps?

Morgan's research and books are tremendous achievements, and I'm always embarrassed for traditional academe and science for the way she was treated because of her views and "contradictions" of the standard Tarzan-Man evolutionary model. She's also a rare pleasure to read for her clarity, practical sense, and reasonability. So many too familiar assumptions she has undone! In my experience the people who really know their stuff are like Morgan, very down to earth...

@maxxoccupancy I agree completely! So many people aren't even willing to give this theory the time of day, simply because of scientific dogma! If people would just stop and ask themselves, "Why did this happen?" (the hairlessness, the ratio and distribution of fat, the shift in the pelvis, the bipedalism, the bigger brain, etc), they would see that this theory fits incredibly well. I have not heard any theory so far that 'clicks' as much as this does for me.

Just another wacko theory for the tin foil hat brigade.

I've noticed that tanned white people are a sandy colour.
-
I have been interested in this theory. It may explain how we lost most of our fur and have slightly webbed hands and feet.
