@SEGA128DC I couldn't either, so I figured the average Joe couldn't, either. After erasing the important stuff, damaging the outside, running a hefty magnet around it, and soaking it in orange juice, I figured that the cost of repair would far outweigh any benefit anyone could retrieve from it. Sure, I could burn it and all that, but it wasn't worth the effort at that point (for me).

I hope you didn't use that method with the other parts because they are toxic. You are supposed to render the platters unspinnable, a hammer works just fine.
