Wonder girl Sunmi officially quits due to her preparation for university at the end of February. She states that due do uncertainty in her future, she is focusing on university entrance, and MIGHT come back. JYP Trainee 우혜림 (Lim) Replaces Sunmi's spot starting march. The clip shows Lim. Lim has been actively working in China, and is known to be fluent in 4 languages. JYP Entertainment stated on 23rd to support Sunmi's decision.

원더걸스 선미가 대학 진학을 위해 연예계 활동을 중단, 사실상 탈퇴한다.

선미는 2월말까지 예정된 원더걸스의 미국 일정을 마감하고 3월부터 한국에서 대학 진학을 위한 준비에 들어간다. 그런 가운데 선미가 지난 1월 20일 자신의 트위터에 남긴 한마디에 관심이 쏠리고 있다.

선미가 남긴 한마디는 I'm starving!!이다. 단순히 배가 고프다, 굶주렸다라는 뜻으로 해석할 수도 있지만 글을 남길 당시에는 이미 활동중단을 결정했을 때기 때문에 비록 연예계 활동을 중단하지만 공부도 열심히 해 두 마리 토끼를 잡겠다는 의지를 느낄 수 있다.

선미는 2009년 6월 미국진출을 위해 재학중이던 청담고등학교를 자퇴했다. 대학진학을 위해서는 일단 검정고시를 치러야 한다. JYP엔터테인먼트는 "소속사로서 선미양이 원하는 대로 대학 진학 후 본인이 원하는 시점에 다시 연예 활동 재개에 대한 지원을 하겠다"고 밝혔다.

선미는 소속사를 통해 1년 동안 미국 50개 도시를 돌며 무대에 선 것은 너무 행복하고 소중한 경험이었지만, 앞으로 계속 이런 삶을 살 수 있을까 고민을 많이 하게 됐다며 활동 복귀를 위해 쉬는 기간에 회사에 나와 춤과 노래 등의 연습과 레슨을 진행하겠다고 전했다.

한편 선미의 빈 자리는 같은 JYP엔터테인먼트 연습생 출신인 동갑내기 혜림(Lim)이 새멤버로 합류하게 된다. 혜림(Lim)은 3년 간 JYP엔터테인먼트에서 데뷔를 준비하던 연습생으로 영어, 중국어, 광동어, 한국어 등 4개 국어에 능통한 것으로 알려졌다.
