ST. LOUIS - On Christmas Day Missouri Highway Patrolman Dennis Engelhard was struck and killed while assisting at an accident in Eureka, Missouri. Burial services were conducted as per family wishes in early January with internment at Christ Church Cathedral in Saint Louis. Engelhard is survived by his partner of nearly 15 years, Kelly Glossip. Mr. Glossip is also a member of Christ Church Cathedral.

In the spirit of obtaining 100-percent Marriage Equality, please help us remember Engelhard and all those LGBT Missouri State employees who are not able to extend their State benefits to their spouses and children. At 2 pm, Saturday, January 30, 2010 Christ Church Cathedral will hold a Memorial Eucharist to celebrate the life of Dennis Engelhard, with a reception following around 3pm open to family and friends. A Memorial Fund has been established in his honor to support Kelly and his son. You may send contributions to: The Dennis Engelhard Memorial Fund c/o Christ Church Cathedral 1210 Locust St Saint Louis, MO 63101

I am so sorry to the family "Kelly & Son" that you have to endure this. My heart goes out to you and your family. Please know if you need anything I am here for you. J

  • I wanted to thank Brian & Jeff for thier kind words. Today is a hard day for me being St Valentine's Day. I'm glad it's on Sunday, I'll be able to see my Sweetheart at Christ Church Cathedral in St Louis where I plan on laying a white rose and white carnation. Roses were Dennis's favorite flower, mine Carnations. I really miss my Valentine, I know one day I'll be with him again.

  • I'm not gay, but this is sick and twisted. Fuck all of you homophobes. You people are worthless sacks of shit. This includes you to Dad.

  • @bradleyvoorheesjams So many straight people don't hate gays

  • Although I am not gay and neither is my dad I know what you guys mean in the aspect that when scary having a law enforcement officer in the family my dad has been a sheriff for almost 30 years now and has been in a lot of bad situations and every now and then I wonder if he's okay at work, and I myself and going to be a cop soon too and it drives me crazy the way people act when cops die. R.I.P Dennis.

  • Thanks for posting the video, such bigotted actions by government identity should be called out for their actions.

This man gave his life protecting & serving, whether he's Gay or Str8 shouldn't matter at all.

He and his loved ones deserve the same dignity efforted to any other officer.

They insult him and disgrace the badge & oath they swore to.

  • It is absolutely so

because I was speaking about myself (thus the phrase: "I find it difficult to feel sympathy")

in life we find that; what is popular is not always what is right and, what is right is not always what is popular

to serve and protect but, the question is WHO?

    peace :)

  • You'd like to think that were true, wouldn't you?

  • I don't care about gay or whatever(whatever covering all states of status. I don't care about black or white. However, I do care about our fallen officers; military or civilian. God bless him and his family(son and partner) - good video ~ John

  • This news really saddens me. What they are doing to his partner and his kid is disgusting. It also reminds all of us how people will dismiss us for our sexual preference and how important it is to fight for equality.

Once again I am thankful I found your channel, since you help us become more conscious about the struggles of our fellow LGBT.

  • Very few gay couples have the means to spend the thousands of dollars it would take on legal fees in order to get only a few of the rights automatically available to married couples.

Marriage is the only the that gives couples these rights... rights that were FORBIDDEN from having no matter how much they wanted it.
