I believe, that if the mv.Caroline had been put back to sea, she would have lasted far longer than the Mi Amigo.
But, Chicago had been checking out the ships, and knew the Caroline was in such bad repair it would have been a major problem to get her ship shape, plus, the Mi Amigo had the 50k rig, so, it was the best option at the time.

Super clip, thanks for sharing.

Great to see the "forgotten" ship Caroline North, wonder if they had got this one instead of Mi Amigo, would it have lasted longer than 1980, seemed a far larger ship

I am very satiesfied with the audio. I had a receiver, standard at that time with radiotubes, and a regular 7" reel taperecorder. I listened/recorded mainly at night or during winter days. I had the best signal then. I still have the tapes in the attic, hours of recordings from most of the pirates around the UK.

I do not know the difference in size, but I do not think it matters to much. Mi Amigo(former Bon Jour and Radio Nord) was at a pretty bad shape. Short before she went down they tried to stop the leaks with-cement!! No matter what, it was a very sad ending of that old lady that´s been giving so much pleasure to so many people here in Sweden and in the end to the UK and the rest of Europe.
